I accidentally broken one of the leaves of my flapjack a few weeks ago, but I did not remove the leaf, just left it alone. Glad I did, it seems to have mended itself..so the red hue is more spread to that particular edge that almost got broken off..so I call it now my scar-faced flapjack Hilarious!

Hurray! I'm just getting started with succulents and find them so varied and interesting. I just got a box of 25 cuttings and potted them up. There were suppose to be 25 types which could include Aeoniums, Echeverias, Crassulas, haworthias, Aloes, Kalanchoes. I tried to match up ones I thought looked alike and I only came up with about 14 different ones, but some may look so much alike that I can't tell the difference. Here is the whole group and then closer shoots of each pot. If you recognize any of them, please let me know the name.

I plan to grow them indoors under lights this winter. Hopefully they will make it until Spring.

Now that I look closer at 9 and 10, they look like they both might have at least 2 different ones in the same pot.

Hello stilldew! I can only guess..even my guesses are broad, so many different kinds under each major grouping..take another photo after a month...it helps to see the growth pattern later. Enjoy your succulent collection..aside from light..good drainage!
No.1 - looks like Kalanchoe tomentosa
No.2 & 3 - somehow it reminds me of a jade plant not yet fully standing..but it is some type of Crassula
No. 4 - still another type of Crassula
No. 5 - maybe a sedum
No. 6 - maybe once the leaf opens a bit more, a better ID for it, but somehow it reminds me of Mother of Millions (Bryophyllum)
No. 7- another crassula
No. 8 - looks like a Rhipsalis
No. 9 - looks like a Senecio
No. 10 - looks like Sedum rubrotinctum (jelly bean sedum)
No. 11 - another crassula
No. 12 & 13 - looks like an echeveria
No. 14 - looks like Crassula arborescens (silver dollar jade)

Btw, your new babies are still very young, so if you put them outdoors, put them in part shade to acclimate.

Susan how exciting!! I think 13 is an aeonium "Kiwi" I have some of that one! Thumbs up
Totally agree with Tarev putting them in part shade - you can totally have them outside until it gets cold for you! They'll love that Thumbs up Thumbs up
I tip my hat to you.

Thanks for the additional name Greg. I'm writing names in pencil on the markers and will change them as needed as they grow. The cutttings are potted in half cactus/half perlite mix, so I hope that works for the drainage. I have them inside right now, but will move them outside into the shade today. I hope at least most of them will get roots. I only paided $17 for the lot, so figure they are a good way to get some experience with tender succulents and won't feel too bad if not all of them make it.

I found a plant at Walmart today that seems to match the red stemmed one in photo #11. It was Elephant Bush (Portulacaria afra). I wonder if the a other plant with the green stem in the same pot is another Portulacaria?

Echeveria Fleur Blanc and Princess Blue seemed to find their way home with me.

Hi Stilldew, #11 can also be Elephant bush..just observe if the stem later on turns deeper red as it matures like a wood. Usually it starts green then goes red..see these photos of mine: It usually grows upwards but there is another one that can also grown downwards. My plant grows upwards:

Oh, this is fun - I like it when the experts do ID!

Susan, I'll just mention that some of those plants are not like the others (sounds like Sesame Street around here!) and have different care. Generally speaking, however, they're all going to like light bright indirect light, like Tarev suggested, like it pretty warm and don't water until dry.

Sorry if this is stuff you already know, but if you don't, I hope it helps you with your new plants!
In the end, only kindness matters.

Science is not the answer, it is the question.

Thanks, I can use all the help I can get. I'm not sure how they are related to adenium, but that is about the only tender succulent I have had success with.

Tarev, your Elephant bush looks big. How tall is it? I think other than the stem color both the ones in the #11 pot look just alike with their leaves arranged the same way alone the side.

Thanks Sue. Mine does look a lot like your photo in the database.

My elephant bush, the tallest stem is about 2 1/4 ft. Hope you get the proper ID's later on as they mature further Smiling

tarev, I think your right about #6. It is starting to grow babies along the edges of the leaves. It looks closest to this photo. http://search.babylon.com/imag... It has the dark markings on the back of the leaves like that one and also the scoop shaped leaves. I noticed some photos in the database have the dark markings and others don't. I was surprised to see babies growing before the roots even started.

I have a plant like that, actually started as a straggler in my aeonium container. At first I was happy to see it, because it reminds me of leopard's skin.. Big Grin I had to eventually move it to its own container, since it grows fast, and as you can see ..seems always pregnant, lots and lots of plantlets. Luckily it is tempered down by our winter weather, otherwise, I would have a forest already Hilarious!

What do you think of Crassula muscosa for #7 or maybe crassula imperialis? I have been searching crassula images and that's the closest I can come to mine. Here are a few photos where you can see the little growths (?flower buds) between some of the leaves on some of the stems.

These 2 are crassula muscosaThumb of 2013-07-29/stilldew/1a0f90 Thumb of 2013-07-29/stilldew/700836

And how about Crassula Springtime for #5b?Thumb of 2013-07-29/stilldew/306f3d Thumb of 2013-07-29/stilldew/11d3f2

I ordered 3 more plants to add to my collection: Anacampseros 'Sunrise'. Echeveria "Blue Curls' and Crassula "Baby Necklace'. Hate to think of what my dining area is going to look like this winter with all the plant lights that will be needed.

Some Crassulas have that pyramidal growth..and sometimes a bit tricky to identify correctly, got to wait till the plants fully adapt, and show its actual growth pattern. The color variance of the leaves is also affected by how much sun/light it is getting. I am a bit thrown off by the lighting on your photos, the yellowish hue, casting a different leaf color. That is why I often try to get the photos done with natural light. For your no. 7 though I am leaning towards Crassula imperialis basing on the comparison photo you supplied.

I do have a couple of the plants you are trying to compare them with..see if they look like it, color-wise and growth pattern:

C. springtime has been repotted and this is how it looks like this July 2013, the plant is the one toward the front, first photo showing side view and 2nd photo top view.

Thanks for the photos. The poor little things don't even have roots yet, so I guess I might as well wait until I find out which ones root and live before I worry too much about IDing them. It's just fun to look at photos and try to see what I can find.
