Thanks for all the best wishes for Kaspar. The vet rang this morning and said she is happy with his progress but he has still to stay in hospital for a couple of days. Kidneys seem okay too. I will have to raid the piggy bank to pay for all this.

Back into the garden today. My bees are doing very well! My Organza bags should arrive never too soon, though!!

No new ones for the season but there are scapes coming up everywhere! I was a little late today.

Great that kitty is OK. When my daughter's dog jumped on the chair and ate a few mouthfuls of my oatmeal he had to go have an atromorphine vomit. .The oats are good and the grated apple, but it had cinnamon and a few sultanas (raisins). Only a couple were in him, but they are apparently very toxic to dogs. He was fine. Anyone had a cat or dog eat daylily foliage or buds?

More overexposed pics even though taken in part shade. It was 41 deg F here last night but 84 deg today. Very dry. The Louisiana Iris next to MARCIA FAY is calling out for water. The one next to it was blown flat to the ground. The upland cress on the other side of MF is great to grow near cruciferous greens. The cabbage moths are attracted to it, then the larvae eat it and die. But not toxic to humans. Full of minerals and vitamins.

It will open a bit more later. Last night I saw the canoed petals of MAGNIFICENT HUMMINGBIRD had flattened nicely. And the eye colours were a bit deeper.

Its the squirrels that eat my buds, but the dogs cant get enough of the caladium bulbs it appears.

I too have had many of those piggy bank breaking trips to the vet. The last eating disaster we had was when the dog got two big bags of chocolate chips off the counter at christmas I was fixing to use for fudge. Downed those chips. Not good on the dog or pocketbook. Blinking

Raining today thank goodness. I always manage to get the watering worryingly wrong having to be miserly. The Council charges like a wounded bull for water here.

Flowering for the first time this season (with native stingless bees).

Lovely blooms Glen. One wouldn't know it was such a grey day. But eventually we got some good rain. I was carting barrowloads b4 the rain so sorry I didnt take a pic of a nice 3-some of MARCIA FAY near the pale pink gerbera. But there will be plenty more now that MF is well established. It has had rusty leaves from KELLY'S GIRL resting on it, but no rust on MF. I love her.

Your new blooms look very serene/sultry in the part shade?/ early? late? light. [[OOPS! just realised it is the same bloom taken morning n evening. Too much wheelbarrow today. Sleep time]]

I think you should give the seedlings a bit more time. Red seedling looks as though it has good substance. The old gold one has a glow about it. They might have other strong points like prolific flowering and rebloom.

The aphids have damaged lots of my daylily leaves and the buds on TUSCAWILLA TRANQUILITY that will be out tomorrow, have big bumps courtesy of aphids. But they look bigger than the first ones. With all the wind we've had I am glad anything is opening.

Is your Kaspar back home?

Thanks Bron. I am hoping I can pick Kaspar up on Thursday. They are waiting for the result of fecal sample tests. I miss him not being in his favorite posies or watching to see what I am doing.

The aphids have been resilient here, too. this year. I thought I had dealt them a fearful blow but they were back in a few weeks. I have to redesign my spraying now I have the busy bee hive. I am dreading the caterpillar of the moth Brithys drilling into the crinums now I cannot chance a systemic.

That red seedling (above: King LamoniXCarrot Cake #KC201601) is acting like one of those red, sleepy hibiscus flowers.
