Yes Debra. The Pryors, who recently retired from selling irises in the Sydney NSW area, are continuing to hybridise now in Tasmania. They have won awards in the US and have had grower/sellers there. I think that VWF was the basis for some of their orange irises. Think it was one that they only made available for sale when they moved and sold remaining stock to a grower in the ''Blue Mountains'' west of Sydney. I was so lucky I checked their site just b4 they stopped all sales.

Because the builders put a ''spoon drain out front along the length of the house here, I have a slope that rises about 1 ft in 5ft. Hence I can grow La Irises at the bottom, daylilies just above them, lavender and gerberas at the top. It is pure clay with little amendment but the drainage is good.

But my photos of CARROT CAKE today are not worth a slice. Where are the clouds when you need them?
Thumb of 2016-10-05/Gleni/67ed6a

A treaasure indeed Glen. Such a clear lovely colour. Is it really that green? Looks like it would glow in the evening if still out then. Imagine under moonlight. (h)Ooowwwww(l).

I love the glow of CARROT CAKE. It looks so substantial. I am a fan of self coloured daylilies and ones with small throats.

My BLACKBERRY JACK and some MARCIA FAY bloomed today. I was flat strapped wheeling barrowloads of fill to behind the on site sewerage treatment tank so I can plant stuff there. Our black cat supervised by walking up and down beside me. It is again so hot and dry that I must get more stuff out of pots. I have to water them constantly, lots of scapes and buds.

Bron, with all those wheelbarrow loads you must have muscles the size of Arnold Schwarzenegger by now!

The colour of Full Treasure is about right It is supposed to be "pink lavender blend, ruffled lettuce green edge". I bought it for that green edge to play around with.

I will try and get a better picture of Carrot Cake. The back lighting of early morning sunrise plays havoc with the camera with such a small bloom. I moved it about midyear from where it has been for several years. It has just exploded and nearly doubled in foliage height now.

I had transferred some of my seedlings to a friend who built a garden for them. Alas the White Cockatoos just got to them again today for the 4th time in six months. He and his lady are quite distressed by it.

Yes the lady there always has defended the cockatoos. I mean they are stunning large birds with presence. However, as she said yesterday, they don't eat them they just destroy them. It is quite weird that is so - but some one said on fb recently that "They do it because it is fun". The couple are going to buy chicken wire this morning to encase their flower bed in it.

Poor Glen. After all the trouble raising seedlings. Great your friends are getting wire asap. Glad you don't have scrub turkeys worrying them Glen. They love mulch, loose soil, or even bare soil that they can scratch up for their mounds. They knock over pots and rake the contents away. They were a nightmare where I lived in Tweed. There are some here but fortunately they confine their scratching to the gully along the edge of my place. But I will have to protect my fill patch b4 they discover it. There will be room for daylilies until the 'boo gets bigger. Today I found that a cute black faced wallaby has chewed down to a 2" stubb my KATHY ROOD, one of my free story prize plants. I think it had buds on it. So it has to come closer to the house and risk rust infection.

First flower of season on KELLY'S GIRL. It was a bonus plant and I like it more each season. Behind and below it is a clump of MARCIA FAY that is powered up with buds. Can't recall if it is a rebloomer. But its short foliage produces a good show of large blooms. Pics are a lot better as it was late afternoon. It was too hot for me outside today except to water poor plants.

Glad your dear ($) little kitty is back home. They don't need English to communicate how happy they are.
Hope you like PP as much as I do. It flowers a lot. Colour varies in depth, And the halo is often less pronounced. But it gets rust badly, except not bad ATMO.

Nice colour and substance on your seedling. Hope it flowers like crazy for you.

Agree with Ginny that Kaspar is a very beautiful cat. I remember seeing him for the first time on your profile pic last year and just fell in love with him then.

Bron, I really like your Kelly's Girl too. The green throat is lovely on this daylily.

Love the blooms Glen and Bron. It is so interesting to me when you share the wildlife that attack your plants - not that it's a good thing Sad Sad , just that they are different than what we have here! Just hard for me to imagine a Wallaby in my yard nodding nodding nodding However, I LOVE Koala bears - so cute and cuddly looking - hope they don't do any damage Rolling my eyes. Rolling my eyes. I was thinking the same thing! I am sure it is no fun to have them chomping on your beautiful plants - no more than the deer or gophers I fight..... but the thought of seeing the Cockatoos or Wallabys running about in their natural habitat sure sounds interesting!

I love the wildlife too. It is a blessing. But of them all, I am glad I don't have Bron's Scrub Turkeys. It would not be the best to come home and find your garden all raked up into a pile 6 feet high. They are megapods and they lay their eggs in those piles. The parents walk off and the eggs are warmed and hatched by the rotting vegetable matter.

I love Kelly's Girl Bron. Thumbs up

They are good photos. You should add them to the database!

Ginny I have seen a few koalas them here. But we here them a lot in mating season which is soon. A year or so ago a one ran up onto balcony off my bedroom. It sat on the railing and clung to the support pole. I tried to get a photo and unfortunately opened the bottom louvre windows and my cat jumped out. Poor koala jumped onto the rain water tank.

The cats are inside most of the time. One killed a lovely brown parrot with beautiful green wings. I am still upset about it.

Today I saw TUSCAWILLA TRANQUILITY had leaves nibbled away. Lucky there is still a bud on it. It was very close to the house. That is unfortunate as I planned to plant more there. I will try the white objects which I think has deterred them lower down the slope. Here there are no large naturally occurring large white things, so maybe it is not just co-incidence they have left plants so embellished???
