Thank you Ginny. It stopped me in my tracks. My seedlings usually are plain.

Glen. I don't think many of your sdlgs are plain. However, like your garden party visitors, I do like 'self' blooms. They also make nice foils to the more patterned ones. But I guess next to the "here am I standing up to be counted" Thin Man sdlg, the others look plain.

My big Red NOIDs in full sun were cooked by 10am. My camera was so hot I had to come inside. Not lots out today.

PJ has been dug up by something so lucky it still lives. Probably looking for worms in the compost I put underneath them as they are growing in pure clay (but on a slope). I relocated my small remnant of BEYOND THUNDERDOME as it too was dug around, yet again.

VINTAGE BORDEAUX looked good tonight even after 32 deg C today. Now the sun rises and sets almost at SE and SW respectively (about 60 and 300deg from North), it is partly shaded all day. Thumb of 2016-12-11/bron/b8c236

I was pleased to see it as wallabies ate another one completely to the ground.

This Oriental Lily (maybe Friso) is 7 foot tall. It helps shade the daylilies. I have had a few blooms inside as they are very fragrant but one of the cats is a bit of a munchie monster.

This season I too have had a few cultivars drop every bud. Annoying when trying to identify them or sdlgs. Also many are not opening properly.
Not lots out today. But both VINTAGE BORDEAUX and EBONY JEWEL. They look a similar colour but VB has a greener throat. EJ has a bit of a chevron eyezone/throat. EJ sure is jewel like. Pics for both vary with the light.

All lovely Glen. CARROT CAKE looks like it glows. It and BILINGA are stunners.
Today I had my eyes checked. Will have cataract surgery some time next year.
Yesterday I transplanted LAVENDER ARROWHEAD and DAKAR. Hopefully now in part shade they will do well.

I agree Drooling ing over that 'Carrot Cake' and 'Bilinga', but that Puppy Bloom is about the most unusual form of any I've seen in a while. Whistling

Crossing Fingers! that those two transplants perform better for you in the shade.

Well, I have had the buds drop quite a bit this month. So disappointing. I have two clumps of Laura Harwood that are usually bloom machines. The picture above is one of the only two blooms I got this season. Tragic. I have a green throat breeding program where I was to cross back some of its seedlings to it. Sob. Another year older.

Bron, they eye specialist showed me a picture of my lens last week. He said it is unnecessary to act just yet but I have great trouble distinuishing colours in low light. This is a pain when putting coloured paper clips and beads on blooms I pollinate.
