Too much moisture can lead to damp off. I always remove domes as soon as they sprout.

And if those are Japanese MGs, they can do very well indoors if they get enough light. This is one of three I grew on my back porch; they never went outdoors and ended up filling the entire window!

Big Grin Those windows weren't there when we got the place! It was all open and got very, very cold and soggy in the winter before we got those windows put in!

Rolling on the floor laughing

No decent window light here, either. I gave up on houseplants years ago.

Thanks for all the information! I am on the line of zone 5b & 6a, the last frost date is about May 10 th.
I have a 4 lamp fluorescent light with 2 grow bulbs and 2 5000k bulbs. I will be getting a heat mat. I will be starting tomatillos, tomatoes, eggplant and peppers.

Those things are probably essential for success. Keep in touch, let us know how it's going. Good luck to you.

And in addition to the information, you've gotten a glimpse of just how silly we are. Big Grin
The new zone map is trying to tell me that I'm in zone 6a, but I don't believe them! I'm planning on starting my tomatoes in about a week and as I recall, you can get away with starting eggplant a bit early, too. Have you grown eggplant before? I hadn't realized that the darn fruit has nasty thorns on the stem! Gotta be careful picking that stuff.

ditto, they moved me from 4b to 5a, and yes, some years, but I don't believe it either!

Woofie, eggplant is easy to grow, the problem is what to do with all those things (somewhat like zucchini) ! (hey, what's a few thorns among friends...)

Nice.

I have to get busy. I still haven't sown those impatiens I intended to do last week.
