As usual, May was the best month in the garden as far as blooms go. The roses put on a fabulous show, even better than usual because of the extra rain this year. It's still fairly cool here. Daytime temperatures have stayed in the high 60s and low 70s, although the forecast for this coming Sunday promises 80 degrees. Nightime temps are now consistently above 40 degrees, so the potted Mandevillas are back in the garden after a long winter inside the house.

I normally don't post in the Rose Forum because i have not had a good year of blooms in the past. However, this year my roses bloom exceptionally well. I am having such a great performance from Dark Desire this spring. It is pumping out quality bloom one after another. I have cut like a bunch of blooms today and there are still more buds to go on the rose. I would like to share a few pics of them.

I always think of the song "June is busting out all over" from Oklahoma, and so it seems with many people's roses. (However, as a child, I thought June referred to a person which gave the song a very different interpretation.)

A glorious display! My favorite is the shot of Dr Huey - about time he got some well deserved admiration.

Lovely garden Mike, so clean and tidy. Now you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor, i.e. spreading all that mulch. Everyone here is posting so many beautiful roses, I love them all except (I hope no one takes offence) the ones with single blooms. They remind me too much of wild roses growing in the bush around here. That Abracadabra is fascinating. What are the three trees/shrubs on the slope in front of the white fence? Lilacs?

Thanks all. Porkpal, I agree with your comment about Dr. Huey! Tigerpaws, the trees on the hillside are viburnums that were covered in white blossoms a few weeks ago, and will set bright red berries over the summer.

During my garden walk this morning I cut a spray of Betty Boop blooms and placed it on the table beneath the pavilion.



And I came across this bloom of Cherry Parfait, masquerading as Double Delight.
