Welcome, @Plantpassionplus! You have some very nice looking plants. I had houseplants many years ago, but now have only outdoor plants. Hope you enjoy your new surroundings and home!

Welcome! @Plantpassionplus Great looking plants. I am in Iowa and have Amaryllis blooming in my house now. I am also over wintering a Tropical Hibiscus, Geraniums, TB Iris, and several other plants in my heated garage under lights.

Hi, My name is actually Becky but my older sister nicknamed me buzz in 1969 so that's mostly what I go by on the internet at least. I live in the northeast part of of the mitten portion of Michigan, just south of Alpena. The Zone was originally 4 but they changed the map to read 5 which is ridiculous when I've seen temps down to -36F. So I buy all my plants for zone 4 and below. I seem to be a better perennial flower gardener than veggies, we won't even speak of last year's disaster of a veggie garden, (my younger sister is the veggie gardener of the family). I've lived in Michigan since 2020 when the hubby, a MI native retired here from northern Virginia. We just moved into our current house a year ago and we're in the middle of windswept farmland. The previous 2 decades were in a shady swamp. So, I'm building up a perennial bed and this year, foundation plantings. Here are a couple pics from last year in June and August.

I started this bed I think in 2019 while we were building the house. I didn't want to move in and have nothing, so it's a good 50 feet away from my back door, but at least I can see it from the window while at the kitchen sink! Grin

Welcome, Buzz! We're glad to have you here. You have some nice flowers there, I wish the critters here would permit me to do that! I really need to get a fence.

Thanks, I try to plant things the deer don't like or the bunnies. Having a couple of dogs running around helps, when they aren't running through or traying to lay on my plants!

Thanks, I like the cottage type gardens. I've got a bunch of Monarda sprouting in my living room. Need to plant more seeds this weekend.

Hi Buzz! Lovely gardens. I'm zone 3 up north in Alberta Canada. I'm excited that Spring is happening - tomorrow, for the first time, we'll be 12celsius aka 54F!! Heat wave! Still have a lot, lot, lot of snow & ice, but now the mud is peeking though Whistling I know, you're going to say "Midwest Weather", but it is who I am and where I am Rolling on the floor laughing I can hardly wait until Summer when the flowers, etc will be evident. Thumbs up

I am? lol I'm not a native, I'm originally from Massachusetts via southern California and northern Virginia. But I love Michigan with whatever the weather is! We've already got plenty of mud and as the hubby hasn't finished grading the backyard and spreading out the hill of topsoil, it's a freaking muddy disaster out there! Pouring rain today, snow/rain/wind tomorrow, they're saying 54F on Monday, 39 Tuesday. I call this yoyo weather.

Hey all! I'm new to being active here. I have previously been active under a different name in many, many subreddit forums on Reddit.com, but I'm moving away from that platform now. I'm so thrilled to see this community online and I'm excited to dive into all the threads!

I'm in the area around Madison, WI, on a fairly suburban lot, but not in an HOA (thankfully). I'm working to transform my land to a regenerative farming/permaculture inspired space, instead of lawn. I'm learning so much all the time, and I'm loving it. I'm gardening for edible food mostly, but every now and then I buy something simply for how pretty it is. When planting perennials not intended for food, I try to go for native only. I haven't really planted or used annuals much but I am looking at starting my own annuals for next season, for pest repellent and tree guild purposes Smiling
