Hi, My name is actually Becky but my older sister nicknamed me buzz in 1969 so that's mostly what I go by on the internet at least. I live in the northeast part of of the mitten portion of Michigan, just south of Alpena. The Zone was originally 4 but they changed the map to read 5 which is ridiculous when I've seen temps down to -36F. So I buy all my plants for zone 4 and below. I seem to be a better perennial flower gardener than veggies, we won't even speak of last year's disaster of a veggie garden, (my younger sister is the veggie gardener of the family). I've lived in Michigan since 2020 when the hubby, a MI native retired here from northern Virginia. We just moved into our current house a year ago and we're in the middle of windswept farmland. The previous 2 decades were in a shady swamp. So, I'm building up a perennial bed and this year, foundation plantings. Here are a couple pics from last year in June and August.
I started this bed I think in 2019 while we were building the house. I didn't want to move in and have nothing, so it's a good 50 feet away from my back door, but at least I can see it from the window while at the kitchen sink!
