Hehe! I have nightmares of all my seeds from this year germinating, giving me 500+ new seedlings to find room for! Big Grin

I got the last iris box for the year today! (Yes, this time it really is the last one! Whistling )

Only had two irises (and a peony) in it:

(Schreiner 1998)

SDB 'Cold River' (Paul Black 2000)

(Paeonia lactiflora 'Peter Brand', http://www.kelways.co.uk/produ... )

Box came today with the two newest ones, Montezuma's Ransom, 1969, and Michelangelo, 1936. The rhizomes of MR are quite tiny so hope they make it. Both are now potted in a mixture of my local "soil" and potting mix, a new experience for me at this time of year, hoping to slowly adapt them to the colder weather after they get a chance to grow a few roots.

I got a few species rhizomes , a few weeks ago, and I plan on mulching them with pine straw before we leave for the Gulf Coast. I have never "winter mulched" bearded ones before, but, I think that will be the way to go with these. They were "leafless", and very dry, and only one (of the half dozen received) is showing any "green". Another option, Dave, would be to "ground plant them" (after a few weeks in the pot), and then "tent" them with some plastic for several weeks ,so it is open on the south side. That might keep most of the cold wind off them, allow the sun to give you a "micro climate" for faster growth Shrug!

Here's the newest additions. This post ties into two posts threads I guess.

Some of my bag #38 I'll try for sure. I have 55 seeds inside, but leery to waste these seeds at the same time being my first year attempting hybridising.

38. 16100 1368-C (SECRET RITES X VENUS BAY ) X HOUSE ARREST

This is the parentage, which equals endless possibilities if you dig deeper into the pedigree of each.
Gimme it and I'll grow it!

Good to see some one got House Arrest to work. I have been trying but with no success. It should be interesting to see what comes of that cross!

I am really looking forward to seeing not only all the blooms on named cultivars, but on all the seedlings people will be getting soon too! I loved all the seedlings Brad posted and just hope the rest of us will have something half as good to show for our efforts in years to come. I know I will be extremely excited when my first seedling blooms in a couple of years - even if it turns out to be the ugliest iris ever! Hurray!

I can't wait until Brad posts pictures of his seedlings from this summer. I'm sure he will once the winter sets in. Smiling

I agree Crossing Fingers!

How about you, Tom? Have you been at it for long enough to have seedlings bloom??

I have had my second season of some blooms. I think there's a thread on here back a ways of the blooms from last year. This winter when I have more time to sort through the pictures I'll post some from this season.

Good idea Arlyn, thanks. So far weather here is going up to near 80F after a low of 34F/1C this morning with frost threat.
I think there will be a lot of new pictures next season from all these 2016 boxes!

Whistling

You have my permission, and that CD with pics of parents of crosses should arrive this week. That could be a thread itself. They're just seeds till something blooms, but gimme it and I'll grow it!
