Chelle, What glorious Maples and fabulous photos ! You caught the light so perfectly. I tip my hat to you.
You remindedme of how lovely the Moor grass is.
Love all your roses and Nemesias, too.

Smiling

Gray, off and on drizzly days are great days to grab the camera; it seems especially true for red-leaved plants.

So true, chelle. Overcast days give much truer photo color. Bright sunshine can make plants look bleached out.

Chelle, a bit off topic but are you linking your plants to the Plant Files or is this another neato trick a la Dave?

Very nice pics- I suspect that you, like me, like to add a lot of interesting leaf color as well as flowers.

I've never heard of Moor grass before. Does it have any cool features that I'm likely to want to go rush out and buy it for?

Sheryl,

Yep, I'm linking to ATPs Plant Database using BB code. That way, anyone wanting extra info on these plants (when it's added, if it's not already), can just click right to it.
Big Grin

Leaf shape/color, plant structure and form...all are especially important this time of year when the blooms are just about done.

I love that grass! It looks great all year long....and if you mow/cut it once in late summer it'll grow nice fresh leaves for fall. When I first planted it I remember someone saying I'd be sorry, that it would spread everywhere and become a nuisance....it's not. The clump enlarges bit by bit, but without runners....it's absolutely great! Lovey dubby

Got some Amaryllis bulbs last night at Lowes. Potted up today. They are nice big bulbs. Priced at only 5.98, I am going back for more....

Ack! I just came back from the "city"! Didn't stop at Lowe's this time 'cause last time I did their plants were all gone.

Good thinking, Janice. Thumbs up

Looks like I'll be making another run to Town pretty soon....before they're all gone.

[Oh, my word!!!! They're hunting right outside my windows right now! Every time a gun goes off I jump a mile straight up!! Grumbling Kinda funny tho', you'd think I'd be used to it by now... Hilarious! ]

They had them here at Lowe's too the other day when I was there. I got one last year and it was beautiful ... gave the bulb away after it bloomed.

I was told if you bury it 8" deep that you could plant Amaryllis outside here in 6b. I didn't really buy it until I saw some gorgeous red & whites blooming in someone's driveway bed this past summer. wish me luck...

This is the first year that I grew Lobelia or Snapdragons. What a bonus to find them shrugging off frost and holding their blooms under light snow!

I had always assumed both were tender because they "looked delicate". Hah!

Rick, my snapdragons often last 2 or 3 years here in my zone 6. They get mushy in the cold winter temps (sometimes below zero), then in spring rebound and come back better than ever.

Which lobelias???

My Allysum Clear Crystal is still blooming, and we've had several night lows in the 20s.

My snaps and Lobelia syphilitica are just about all that's left blooming here too...oh, and the second crop of borage.
