Wow, it has been 5 years , at least , since I have been down in that part of Minn. and almost ten years since we were in Northfield.
Last time we were in that region of Minn. we were in Miesville and stopped at King's Place, know for a huge burger variety, and I still have the Hamm's beer mug momento.

Heading home to mow lawn and probably pull most corn out of the garden for corn shocks.
Maybe start pressure washing the garage so next summer there will be less prep work so I can finally start painting.
It is tech. barely warm enough to paint, but the high buck oil paint I use takes a LOOONG time to dry, and it is a bad idea to prime now and not top coat.
I replaced rotted old-new wood, put on only 13 years ago, but now I am out of replacement wood and price for more is horribly high.

Beautiful sunny day here today, temps in the 60s but finally there was almost no wind (it's been exceptionally windy here recently). Did a bunch of weeding around the "foundation planting area," largely because we're having a big window in our sunroom replaced (it's a double or triple pane and has lost its seal) and I wanted the installers to be able to tell where they could step without trashing a plant; there are only 2 peony plants (with cages around them) and a large rhododendron in that area, and now the ground around them is bare so it shouldn't be a problem. And it was good incentive for me to take care of the weeding, which has been more or less neglected in favor of taking care of the veggies this summer.

Walked to zoo, Asian horses were making noise, found out that a recent foal was in for a medical review and Mom was not happy!
Tomorrow the family will be going to the Pumpkin show at the zoo, went last year, really enjoyable.

Noticed a red strawberry yesterday in the front garden, had some several years ago on the side garden, apparently made its way around.

Rj, I envy you being able to visit the zoo like you do; I had to look up the pumpkin show - wowser - that sounds like a blast!

We have a niece that works at the San Diego zoo; that truly would have been my dream job in my (much) younger years

58 degrees, has been raining all day , and most of yesterday.
Pulled one-fourth of the corn down South and cut-off one-half of the peonies.
It is supposed to rain again Sunday so I have no great urge to go out into the wet garden.

More rain today. We got a little sun around 2:00. Went out to pull more daylily scapes and the ground is just mush. The yard is so soggy my JD Gator makes tracks then it wouldn't start and we had to put a chain on the mower and pull it to the shop. Finally started but I'm done for the day. Came in and made chili

Sharon is making chilli so I was ordered to go out and pick some chiles.
I believe tomorrow I will start pulling a lot of the chile plants as in this weather they are done for the year.

May pull some tomatoes also as again, the weather is not doing them any good.

Garden will get some more plants pulled either tomorrow or sometime next week. Slowly getting it pulled for winter. With my bum foot I can't weed eat or dig since my balance is crap still so that makes it harder also to put stuff up for winter. I can put the veggie garden to bed since that's just pulling up plants and taking off cagers. Posts I can ask for help with if I don't feel like I can do it this time.

Some rain here and there last couple days. And rain chances off and on all next week as well. I'll take it but that makes it harder to get the hay field brush hogged and harder for farmers to get crops in. It'll all get done at some point though.
