Hi, Are these hydrangeas or geraniums? We made a little friendly bet. Thank you. ![]() |

Hydrangea Welcome to the site! Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. |

Hydrangea who won? He who plants a garden plants happiness. |

You are probably thinking of pelargoniums, a "cousin" of geraniums and a very common house plant. Hydrangea leaves are serrated and sort of heart shaped though. The ones in the picture are hydrangea macrophylla mophead blooms. It is kind of early to be seeing blooms this open. Is it a picture from last year? Just walked around my hydrangeas and the flower buds are in the "broccoli phase". ;o) |

Yes, definitely Hydrangeas (Hydrangea) Not Pelargoniums (Pelargonium) (commonly called Geranium) Not Geraniums (Geranium) I hope you won the friendly wager! ![]() ~ I'm an old gal who still loves playing in the dirt! ~ Playing in the dirt is my therapy ... and I'm in therapy a lot! |

Funny. I knew a guy once who called Hydrangeas 'Higeraniums'. |
