An arilmed is a subset of arilbreds. It's more specifically describing it's size and the genetics that go into making it a smaller plant. I. pumila, SDB and those sort of small iris are usually the non-aril iris that are components of arilmeds. Taller arilbreds which are mostly derived from TBs are usually taller arilbreds. A lot of the species arils are also not very tall. Lucy can probably explain it a lot better
