I am not here to talk about "new camera technology". However, I can offer some helpful basic hints that l learned from trial and era. I do hope some other people chime in that have more expertise then me. That being said, the following are some my own pointers:
1) While holding the camera, lock your elbows into the sides of your body, inhale (hold your breath), depress the button slightly till the camera focuses and shoot. OR, try a tripod.
2) I found taking photos early in the morning, the latter part of the afternoon or cloudy days are best as opposed to the sunny time of the day. I also avoid taking photos on slightly breezy windy days.
3) Try taking photos of the same subject from different angles. Calif_Sue is really good at using this technique.
4) Consider the background of the subject. Do you really want that trash can or car in the background?
5) experiment with the various settings on your camera. Do a comparison of the same subject. For example if you like the way the photo turned out, bring up your photo on your monitor, left click your mouse and click on "properties". Properties will give you all kinds of info such time of day, the f number, ISO, the exposure mode, etc. Compare the difference between that photo to others you took using other settings.
5) cropping and composition: consider the background. If you have other flowers far into the background try not to cut off parts of those flowers. Either the whole background flower should be in the photo or crop it out completely - just my opinion.
Debra - lovemyhouse - thank you for showing us your camera. You have taken lovely photos. I hope you submit some of them in to the photo contest. I too have bought a couple of cameras on ebay - great suggestion Debra.
That's all folks!
Observe, observe, observe
We are fortunate to "see" & appreciate nature in ways others are blind.
