I have pineapple sage in a pot. I am trying to grow rosemary from cuttings too and I will also grow chia next spring. Is anyone growing any of these (rosemary, chia, or pineapple sage)?

I bought a rosemary plant at the supermarket this spring. It's a slow growing plant. Maybe it will bloom next summer. I grew pineapple sage a long time ago. I enjoyed the fragrance, from the leaves I recall. I have chia seeds marketed as a food item. The seeds germinated for me, to my surprise. I was going to sow some but didn't get around to it. Maybe next year if I am still alive.

Chia seeds are practically the easiest thing to grow. Doesn't matter what "grade" it is, if they are not processed they are probably viable.

Rosemary flourishes here. My "Arp" is evergreen. Almost all issues with rosemary are caused by "over loving." Treat it like lavender. It can be pot grown but is way happier in the ground.

I used to grow pineapple sage in California and it bloomed all winter. Heavenly. Tried it here... finally bloomed two weeks before freezing weather. ☹️

No experience with chia.

Joseph, I'd love some seeds. Hopefully I can resolve this pest problem by next year. I don't have much space indoors for wintering. I'm pretty strict about not attempting plants that aren't suited to my climate, but I'll bend the rules for salvias. Lovey dubby

Will send tree mail.

My oldest Rosemary is about 17 years old, and it's in a pot. It has to be uppotted next year and I dread it. I'm getting rid of two salvias in the ground because they just don't do well for me. I will sell them in the MG sale next year.

What type are the salvias you have in the ground?

Let me go look at one tag, but I have a huge hot lips, it's a large shrub, a black and blue that looks really sad, and two nemerosas that I planted in the spring, and one has presented me with three seedlings because it took me so long to deadhead it! The one I'm not sure about is one I got from Select Seed. It may just be the location, but it's two years old and has never bloomed. I also have an annual that I can't remember the name of, it has coral and white blooms and it re seeds readily. The seeds from last year made this years plants. I also have a salvia coccinea, Lady in Red, that I've kept going for 21 years now, I've given away hundreds of seedlings of it. Hummers really like it.

My annual salvias are blooming their heads off. My perennial ones are through for the season except for hot lips, which is putting out a random bloom here and there.

Would love to get the salvia oxphora back in to my garden. I had it 6 years ago…love that fuzzy bloom.

@gerris2 if you get seeds, let me know.

The red salvia, probably coccinea, and coral nymph are in bloom.

Betsy, I just collected seeds today of the two annual salvias you talked about. I'm going to use them for the plant sale. My red salvia is coccinea, called Lady in Red, and it has been self sowing for 22 years now. I've given away hundreds of seedlings because it attracts so many Hummers and butterflies.
