Jovibarba is another type of cold hardy succulent similar to semps :D

Arif, you crack me up.
Why would I want to distract him? Hilarious!

Look at these Marilyn. They produce offsets In a different way from the semps.
They produce tiny little round offsets on very fragile stolen that break away from the parent rosette, usually rolling away from the parent and rooting where ever it may stop. They can even land on their little heads, and some how they manage to root and pull themselves upright. Very tough and fun to watch plants. There are a number of different varieties.

This was taken last November. You can see the plant tag which gives you a size reference.

And this is what the sempervivum blooms look like. I can't find my photos with the bees and butterflies gathering nectar from the blooms.

Oh boy, found these two. Still not finding the one with the butterflies. You can see the difference between the blooms of sempervivum and jovibarba in these two photos.

Lynn,

What are the names to the two pink flowering ones? I like those. Need to know how tall and wide do they get? When do they bloom? Do they bloom every year?

And more importantly, do they have 'pointy needles' that would prick a person?

I love the second pink one that has a bee and a bee flying to the flowers!

What are ones that attract Hummingbirds and Butterflies?

I 'live' for the Hummers, so I gotta be a 'good' host to them when they're here (6 months or less).

Love to have flowers to attract BF's! Love flowers that serve all 3 (Hummers, BF's and Bees) or 2 of them!

Marilyn, sadly these plants are called "monocarpic" because they only bloom once then die, hopefully though before dying they put out "chicks" and so the plant continues Big Grin

How long would the chicks have to grow to put out flowers?

Typically they bloom in their 3rd year, or if there is a lot of sun/heat they may bloom sooner, but I think if this is the case, they may bloom without sending out chicks. But they might look great at the base of some of your perennials! Thumbs up

Yes Marilyn, you're welcome! They are lovely plants that are mostly easy to care for, which is partly why people like them! I hope you do take Lynn up on her offer and try out a couple and see how you like them! Happy gardening, whatever you decide! Do check in periodically - you made me laugh! thanks
Cheers nodding

Marilyn they can be as tiny as 1/8" across a rosette or as large as 9" or larger across a rosette. Depending on the variety. But all make wonderful colonies.
Once you have a nice colony going, some in the colony will bloom while the others carry on.
The bloom stalks can be anywhere from 4" tall to over 1 foot tall, again depending on the variety of semp.

Maybe some of you here can show Marilyn some photos for examples of colonies?

Cruddy, I love them all. Hurray! Hurray! Big Grin
