I only have one desert rose now and I did bring inside but it is the first year I have done that. In previous years I just placed the pots along side the house on the south side. The overhang kept them dry and the heat from the house was enough. The one I brought in has just set some buds, maybe I will keep it indoors for a while.

Looks like we'll have chilly mornings next weekend also. Thumbs down

Yes my original 5 desert roses were left to fend for themselves for many years. Especially during times I wasn't active here so I wasn't updated on the weather. Then the one year I decided to take care of them, and repotted, I almost killed 2 from rot! D'Oh!

It is a beautiful morning today but I will slowly bring some pots in, especially ones that will not drain fast! Not freezing but a Friday rain is in our forecast, which will bring the temps down to 38 degrees!

Wet and cold is a bad combination for desert roses! They could rot overnight.

I finally was able to put my plants back in the camping tent to protect from rain because of the below 40s forecast.

I don't know if it is worth all these troubles to have so many plants D'Oh!

True, when spring arrives I forget all the hardships until hurricane season when I have to secure them from the wind.

Waking up to a good much needed soaking rain. I wanted my philodendrons and orchids to get a good watering before bringing them into the FL room. At least it isn't as cold as that last one, I think my plants are getting used to these cold mornings, we've had a few drop to low 40's a few hours.

I left some outside to get much needed rain soaking too and hopefully the cold will encourage them to bloom.

35° most the wee hours of morning, but this time we had some frost at sunrise on the cars and rooftops and lawns.
I did cover some plants, wasn't going to since they said only down to 36 for a couple hours at dawn and it was windy as all get out. However I got a frost warning yesterday evening and sure enough the winds died down, so glad I did.
I did bring more plants into the FL Room also... Whistling

I put some beach umbrellas over some plants, they too had frost on them. Crossing Fingers!
Last freeze some damage didn't really show for a good week, mostly leave drop which will recover fast.

Ok, I didn't go out till the sun was a little bit higher but still was in the 40s and I saw frost on my neighbor's lawn but not mine:

The inside temp of the camping blankets inside the camping tent ⛺️ registered a low of 50s. And checked this morning and they look warm.

This is what it looked like before I covered with the camping blankets:

I like your tent protection, do you have a heater in it? Glad you got a picture of the frost, people don't believe me when I say we get frost in the low 40's.

We dropped down to 44F in Miami, so i had to bring most of my balcony plants in, leaving only Giant Crinums outside.
My dwarf plummie just leafed out and my 'Lemon Drops' had 2 inflos: don't want to loose them now. And Adeniums still blooming.
I read that a lot of Caladiums suffered this year and one of mine just woke up and has first leaves; i checked all of them and will take extra care to get them going soon.

@sunkissed no I don't have a heater protection just the light camping blankets over it. Inside the tent but outside the camping blanket the temp is 5 degrees higher and inside the camping blanket is a lot warmer. Not sure if our temp dropped to 36 degrees like the forecast but the temp registered a low of 50 only. I think it is getting the warm draft from our doorwall.

I like your Florida room! I wish I have one like that, then I will not need a tent just blankets but it will be full of plants.

I was surprised to see the frost too but only on my neighbors lawn not ours.

@skylark good save on your plumeria buds, adeniums and other tropical plants! Yes that would be frustrating to wait for the Adenium to bud and loose them. It happened to me many times and it is not a good feeling.

Yaay made it through, today is the last day of below 40s for us, for now. Then it will warm up again for a few more days but with the forecast of 2 days of rain next week, I will just keep my plants in the camping tent for now.

My plants are so confused with this "yoyo" weather. I had to bring a rose bush in the tent because it is full of tender new growths!

Gigi, that is pretty good, my Florida room stays about 15-20 degrees warmer without heat than what's outside, the windows are vinyl and some little holes here and there from the dogs and cat over the years. I do have a little heater out there if needed.
There was frost again this morning but it is warming up really fast today. I just went out and took the covers off, I left them on all day yesterday.
