Sally and Cindy - I didn't have a problem with knee socks, but I DID roll up my skirt after leaving for school - after all it was the mid to late 60s After my daughter was in high school she wanted a skirt that was wayyyyy too short - I told her that in front of my dad and he about fell off his chair laughing because he couldn't believe I was telling her it was too short

Sunny again today. In fact, this is the most sun we've had in December in a lot of years. Makes me happy/sad. No snow, so I want to be outside gardening, but everything is frozen so nothing to do. We'll probably get hit in February when my cabin fever is at its peak. Meanwhile, my coleus seeds have sprouted. Maybe 8 weeks to sowing indoors for the rest?

As said though , Letting them out to walk around , and the time to watch them (when they mind , which Tribbles did do ) It is difficult ,as to some learn slow and you have watch them like sitting on an egg , Difficult if even possible ,

skits - you're probably right about getting hit in Feb. Or worse, in March with those heavy, wet snows with high wind and 10 to 12". I am growing coleus from cuttings right now in order to take more cuttings after the holidays. Have a few seeds for winter sowing or stratifying but won't start much til late Feb/early Mar.

Wed we are going to Calgary to "deal" with an elderly friend of ours who's gotten a cell phone, disconnected his landline and now can't get visitors to buzz in and has a new #. He's called 2 or 3 different companies to come in & get his old # back - I just "arrrrrrrrrgh'ed" on the phone to him, so we'll have to go to the city to get him straightened out. No point trying over the phone (he's SO deaf), or over email (he cancelled that when he cancelled his landline). I'm SO frustrated with him. His family is down east and he has no one here. I called his brother in NS & he's going to send his son to talk to his uncle & maybe they can find somewhere our friend can live where someone can watch over him to make sure he's doing what's best for him.

I was down at my Mom's house when two tiny blue-eyed kittens came running towards me, mewing and climbing up my jeans like I was a tree trunk. Dad said the Mama hadn't been around for a couple of days but they were eating the cat food with the other strays. What could I do? I took them home. Two brothers. Zoe, charcoal grey and soft as a mink. Petey, the runt. A tabby.

Zoe's been sick for a while now and lost a lot of weight. This morning he couldn't eat or drink. I won't watch an animal suffer so the hard decision was made. It was time to let him go.

I showed him to Petey while he was in the carrier, and showed him the empty carrier when we got back. I'm not sure he gets it yet. I expect deep keening from him tonight.

I've lost a lot of cats over the years. Ferals, and pets. I'll be ok.

I send you a hug. Going through a very sad time with my cat at this time it looks bleak. Sorry for your loss.

I came to the conclusion , the Black cat feral that is hanging around here killed Tribbles ,
Tribbles was a small cat he was easily chased by other cats ,
I have been watching cats chasing each other , on purpose out into the street ,into the front of oncoming traffic ,
I have seen that several times the most recent few years ,
Having to sit or watch over egg thing , I'm not fast enough , or concentrate enough , to do that anymore ,

Yes I'm still Everything seems to mess with anything I do lately , I'm growling , grumbling , and yes those others ,
I being messed with,,

Good morning. Frosty overnight and should get to mid-40s today with sunshine. Baking today and wrapping a few late gifts in between. I think DH is doing most of the baking today - something he likes to do. Didn't start yesterday as we ended up going to a couple of different stores to get ingredients. And that's not the big grocery shopping for holiday meals. I hate grocery shopping.
Jim - you need a self-indulgence day. Maybe play with your new light? I'm getting itchy to start some seeds but will have my self-indulgent day after the holidays.
