Nothing disappears faster than a cat. They get behind a tree and seem to know to keep walking until they are out of sight. Meanwhile, you're still watching the tree waiting for them to re-appear. Master escape artists.

I'll bake pies, but I'm lucky. Everyone likes the chocolate oatmeal no bake cookies, lol!

Sally - baking for the holidays never easy around here. 5 or 6 kinds of cookies, pecan pies for Christmas Eve, cherry scones and orange-cranberry muffins for Christmas morning. First year for no cut-out cookies though. DGDs getting too old to want to decorate. Those chocolate oatmeal no-bake cookies are yummy. My mom made them when we were young. She was more into making candies for the holidays.
I noticed the other day that I haven't seen any mourning doves for a while. Maybe between the hawks and foxes, their numbers are diminishing? They do tend to be a little slow.

I used to go all out with cookies too. My Mom and Grandma were the candy makers. I remember plates and plates of different kinds.
I have a ton of mourning doves and ring-necked turtle doves. You may have a hawk. They sure are hard to catch. It's the least kind of feathers I find.

We haven't seen any mourning doves in a while but that's not unusual. We still have lots of other birds and squirrels so I don't think it has anything to do with hawks here. We get a lot of hawks perching in the trees over the summer and they take some prey out of the back yard.

Thinking of Jim and everyone's idea that he should have a self indulgent day soon. I am tempted to say I am having an average afternoon ((joke.) Sitting inside, sun is shining, near record high. Little bit of snow left is melting. Great sale on meat at my favorite store tomorrow. Standing Rib Roast, ground sirloin, thick Rib Eye steaks on my list. Having a bottle of great red wine, oops, I should have said glass? Cooking 6 lb. of thick bacon. Watching a good Sci-Fi movie I have ever seen before. I put Runt inside my jacket and went for a walk in my woods earlier. He starts purring the moment I pick him up. He fell asleep during our walk. 3 friends stopped by. They went home with goodies from my freezer. Some WOW chicken and some A+ beef. And it is still early.

So much info today! I spend my early afternoon arguing the ATT about Directv. Hopefully after three months it's taken care of.

I'm too old to keep track of who said what, but Billyporter covered it well.

I'm trying so hard to be full of joy this Christmas. Loved the video. Shared it with my daughter, as she also lost a package. Just adds to my frustrations with today's world.

May we all enjoy the "winter rest" and have the best producing gardens ever come spring. I can't wait!

skits - sis and I have been arguing with TMobile about my deceased mother's account. Ugh! One of the most inept carriers with coverage so lousy that c/s calls get dropped.
Sally - yeah, hawks here - red tails too big to fly into the yard much but those coopers (?) are fast and sneaky and small enough to get through the trees. My mom used to make divinity, penuche, English toffee (my fave) and fudge. Otherwise, I'm all about cookies. DH is going to try his hand at angel wings tomorrow. Should be interesting and keeping my fingers crossed for him.
Gene - I love my houseplants but the dwarf banana is about 5 ft tall. Had to move it out of the livingroom so that I could put the Christmas tree up. One of those little palms that comes in a potted mixed arrangement is also about 5 ft tall now. Nice to have a tropical forest in the livingroom during Jan and Feb.

Gene - I have a smallish livingroom/diningroom (traditional L-shape) and still have my 30+yo weeping fig, lemon tree (small but with fruit), Boston fern, streptocarpus, dwarf orchid so with tall palm and banana, I still have room to sit in the sun when it shines through the windows.
