My computer crashed I *think* on July 26 Realized I had lost ALL my pictures on the hard drive...not one hard copy of Dixie. Been looking at a flash/thumb ???drive for about a year now and never did get around to saving the pics that were on the computer Well my ex #1 had a hard drive from an old computer with XP on it so he put it in my tower...with dial-up I can't go beyond windows 7. He brought it back to me yesterday and got me hooked back up. For some reason stuff looks and acts a bit different and it's even slower then before the crash, but I'm BAAAAACK silver lining #1. Had to take Dixie to the vet on July 28...kinda emergency trip. She had stopped drinking, eating and playing with her BIG ball, plus there was a nasty smell from her mouth. I'm thinking blockage. Vet kept her overnight. Bloodwork was OK....nothing showed up on x-ray....BUT her tongue was burned down the middle of the top Chemical??? something hot??? Really don't know for sure, but my DD (who BTW is a vet tech in Ga.) suggested that as bloody hot as it's been here that perhaps the ball got so hot in the sun that it burned Dixie's tongue. Could be as she was kinda leary of it at first when she got to feeling better. She is now back to her usual rotten self BIG ball play and all ...silver lining #2 And so #3...one more time into the abyss with Poppy don't know what's wrong with her, but she is acting up AGAIN. Love my jeep, but it really is time to get a newer something IF I can figure out how. Time for that winning lottery ticket to bring me to silver lining #3
This too shall pass....Hello God, please give me some patience, but I want it YESTERDAY Oh well, at least I can still laugh so all is not lost

About Dixie, hope she didn't bite into an electrical cord. Had it happen with an older kitten of mine once...he recovered eventually, but in the meantime, eating sure was a problem!

Ann, I think that was a very good way to sum things up! As things turned out... they did bring their own, and also sampled (of their own volition) some of the garden veggies; the pole beans and tomatoes were just too tempting, I think . They live in Detroit and have room for just a couple of raised beds, so they were having fun looking at everything in my garden, and I was having fun because they were genuinely interested (not just in the "how many vegetables can I take home from here?" way) and were familiar with a lot of different heirloom tomatoes and so on. The weather was beautiful yesterday (if a little hotter than necessary) and we were all able to sit on our deck and enjoy the breeze.
Ann, to you, not only for having to deal with the celiac disease, but for giving the rest of us some insight on how to handle the situation of entertaining friends with special food needs!
